Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- Quick and simple prep: All it takes is a little olive oil and a quick dusting of seasoning before cooking.
- Short cook time: The steak cooks entirely in the air fryer for a total of exactly 12 minutes.
- No grill required: You get a beautifully cooked steak entirely on your countertop.
Ingredients
- 1 boneless New York strip steak
- A little olive oil
- A little Paula Deen’s house seasoning (or salt and pepper)
Instructions
- Coat both sides of the boneless New York strip steak with a little olive oil.
- Sprinkle both sides with a little bit of Paula Deen’s house seasoning (or substitute with salt and pepper).
- Place the seasoned steak directly into the air fryer basket.
- Turn on the air fryer, set the temperature to 400°F, and set the timer for 6 minutes.
- When the timer goes off, open the basket and flip the steak.
- Cook for another 6 minutes at 400°F.
- Remove the steak and check the internal temperature with a digital thermometer; a temperature of 145°F yields a nice medium-rare center.
Notes
Getting a Sear: The air fryer cooks the steak beautifully, but it won’t give you grill marks. If you want those markings and a nice fond on the outside, Bobby suggests pulling the steak out of the air fryer and giving it a quick sear in a very hot cast-iron pan.
Checking Doneness: In the video demonstration, cooking the steak for exactly 6 minutes per side at 400°F resulted in a 145°F internal temperature on a digital thermometer, which produced a medium-rare center.
